About this service

Decluttering that leaves behind a system, not just a tidy room

Center City · Rittenhouse · Fishtown · Northern Liberties · Queen Village · South Philly · University City · Old City · Fairmount · West Philly · Mount Airy

Looking for home organization help in Philadelphia? You want someone who doesn't just pile things neatly — they sort, decide, and leave behind a system you can keep up. Since 2021, Hometress has helped homes across the city — from Rittenhouse apartments and Fishtown lofts to South Philly row homes and Mount Airy family houses — get past the clutter that cleaning alone can't fix.

Organization is its own kind of work: closets edited and re-shelved, pantries sorted and labeled, playrooms zoned, paperwork triaged, and garages reclaimed from the year's accumulation. We work with you on the keep / donate / discard decisions — or take direction and just execute — handle the donation haul-out, and treat sentimental and fragile pieces with care. The goal is a space that functions the way you actually live in it. Every organizer who enters your home is background-checked, and Hometress carries general liability insurance that may cover damage from a cleaner's negligence, whether you work through the decisions together or hand over a clear plan.

Representative review

We emptied the pantry, grouped everything, and added labels that actually made sense for our kitchen. A week later, we were still putting things back where they belonged.

Representative review

I made the keep-or-discard calls while the paperwork was sorted and filed. The mail pile that had covered our table finally had a workable place to go.

Faith C.Fairmount · Philadelphia

Representative review

The garage shelves were re-zoned, the fragile boxes were handled carefully, and the donation bags left that same day instead of moving back into the hallway.

Do I have to be there for the whole session?

It's up to you. Some clients want to make every keep-or-toss decision themselves, in which case we work alongside you; others prefer to give direction and let us execute. We'll flag anything sentimental, fragile, or valuable before discarding — nothing gets hauled without your say-so.

Will you actually take the donations away?

Yes — that's the part that usually stalls. Anything you've decided to part with gets bagged, hauled, and dropped at a local Philadelphia donation partner the same day, so the pile actually leaves instead of sitting by the door for a month.

Can you organize before a move, or before listing a home for sale?

Absolutely — pre-move and pre-list decluttering is a core use case. Editing down before a move saves packing and moving costs; a decluttered, staged space shows better and photographs better. We can also pair it with a move-out or deep clean if you're preparing the home for handoff.

How is home organization priced?

Per session, not hourly — because a thorough sort shouldn't punish you for taking the time it needs. Tell us which zones you want tackled and we'll come back with a scoped quote you approve before we start. Whole-home passes are quoted the same way: a scoped package, never a running clock.

How are Hometress home organizers vetted?

Every Hometress pro assigned to a home-organization session is background-checked, and Hometress carries general liability insurance that may cover damage from a cleaner's negligence. That standard applies whether you make each keep, donate, or discard decision alongside them or give clear direction and let them execute. Fragile and sentimental items are handled with care, and nothing is discarded without your approval.

Can I book home organization for just one closet or pantry?

Yes. You can choose a single zone, such as a closet, pantry, playroom, paperwork area, garage, basement, or storage space, instead of booking a whole-home pass. The session can focus on sorting, re-shelving, labeling, and setting up categories for that space. If you have several zones in mind, a whole-home pass can be scoped around them.

Does a home-organization session include any cleaning?

Yes. After the sorting and organizing work, the session includes wiping the newly cleared surfaces and vacuuming and mopping the floors in the area. The main focus remains the hands-on reset: editing, zoning, re-shelving, labeling, and preparing donations for haul-out. If you want ongoing cleaning after the reset, you can pair organization with a regular cleaning cadence.

Do you bring supplies and products?

Yes. Your cleaner arrives with professional equipment and eco-friendly, people- and pet-safe products. Have allergies or a product you'd rather we use — or avoid? Tell us and we'll honor it.

What if I'm not happy with the clean?

Tell us within 48 hours. We review the concern and make it right — a free re-clean of the affected area, or a credit or refund on that portion. That's the White Glove Guarantee.
