Transit is the neighborhood's superpower. The Market-Frankford El runs along Market with stops at 30th, 34th, and 40th, putting you in Center City in ten to fifteen minutes; trolley lines 11, 13, and 36 cut across the neighborhood; and Regional Rail out of 30th Street Station reaches the suburbs and the airport, with multiple lines terminating there. Between 43rd and 51st, Baltimore Avenue is the food corridor and the place University City feels most like a neighborhood; Clark Park, nine acres with a year-round Saturday farmers market, is the community living room west of 43rd. The Schuylkill River Trail and Indego make it easy to skip the car entirely.
The rest of the city is a short walk across the river: over the South Street or Chestnut Street bridge and you're in South Philadelphia or Rittenhouse in fifteen to twenty minutes, with Center City just beyond. Most people here have concluded the car isn't worth it — circling for twenty-plus minutes is common, and parking tickets run $25 higher here than most of Philadelphia. That's the tradeoff residents make happily, and it's the same logic behind handing off the cleaning: keep the things that need doing on a schedule you don't have to think about.
