Core Fairmount sits below Girard between roughly 19th and 23rd, a rectangle of brownstones, strollers, and quiet after-dinner dog walks, with the Art Museum anchoring it at the foot of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Boathouse Row and Kelly Drive run along the Schuylkill just past the Museum, and the blocks closest to it are the calmest and most walkable. Target and Whole Foods handle the groceries; the cafés along Fairmount Avenue double as living rooms. North across Girard, Francisville is the quieter younger sibling, filling in with new developments and renovated homes.
Fairmount is both a residential brownstone neighborhood and a Parkway event corridor. Original houses below Girard, renovated rowhomes toward the Museum, and newer Francisville development all share 19130, while parade and festival days change the street conditions around them.
