When you book a Hometress cleaning in Philadelphia you choose a 2-hour arrival window, and the site says your cleaner texts when they are on their way. The window is an estimate, not an appointment for an exact minute. Our Terms say so in plain words, and they also say what happens when a visit runs late or a storm gets in the way. This guide sets out what the booking page offers, what a wider window saves, what the Terms promise and do not promise, and what you can do ahead of a snow day.
Everything below comes from our booking page, our Terms of Service and the City of Philadelphia, checked on October 17, 2026.
The short answer
- The window: you pick a 2-hour window at booking. Our Terms describe an "estimated arrival window (usually 2-3 hours)" and say we "cannot guarantee exact arrival times." Plan for the longer span.
- A wider window costs less: FlexSave (a 5-hour window) is $10 off the booking and UltraFlex (all day) is $15 off. Priority, a locked-in slot, is $15 more.
- A late cleaner: the Terms promise "every effort to notify you if we anticipate a significant delay." We have not published a credit or discount for a late arrival, so we do not describe one.
- A cleaner who cannot get in: that is 100% of the booking. If we cannot provide the service, the hold on your card is released.
- Snow and storms: the only weather rule we publish is Section 7.3 of the Terms, quoted below. We do not publish a separate snow-day policy.
What the arrival window is, and what it is not
At the booking step you choose a 2-hour arrival window. The site lists Philadelphia visits as Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM, with at least 18 hours' notice. On the day, your cleaner texts when they are on their way.
Section 2.5 of our Terms is the sentence to read before you plan your morning: "We'll provide an estimated arrival window (usually 2-3 hours) for your cleaning appointment. Our teams do their best to arrive promptly! However, please understand that unexpected delays can occur due to traffic, weather, or issues at prior jobs." It continues: "We cannot guarantee exact arrival times, but we will make every effort to notify you if we anticipate a significant delay."
The two pages differ a little: the booking step sells a 2-hour window, and the Terms say "usually 2-3 hours." We would rather you saw both than trusted the shorter one. If your day has a hard stop, such as a meeting or a school pickup, leave room after the end of the window.
What a wider window costs, or saves
The booking step has a flexibility card with four choices. Each one adds or removes a flat amount from the booking, using the figures on the booking page on October 17, 2026. The total on your own booking page is the one that counts.
| Choice | Window | Change to the booking | How the card describes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 2-hour window | $0 | Specific arrival window, most precise |
| FlexSave | 5-hour window | -$10 | A half-day window: "your cleaner arrives within the morning or afternoon window you pick" |
| UltraFlex | All day | -$15 | "We pick the time anywhere in the day. Best for recurring plans where you're flexible." |
| Priority | Locked-in slot | +$15 | "Locks the slot even on busy days" (the card adds that it "jumps the queue") |
Two things to know before you take the saving. First, you give up control of the hour. With FlexSave or UltraFlex we choose the time inside your window, so these suit a day when you are home anyway, or a home where the cleaner has the keys or a door code and you do not need to be there. Our do you need to be home guide lists the ways a cleaner can get in.
Second, the saving sits on top of the rest of the price, not below it. The visit minimum still applies: if a discount and a wider window together would take a visit under the $125 minimum, a minimum line tops the total back up, so the window saves you less or nothing. Our line-by-line price breakdown shows where that minimum line appears.
For a recurring plan the numbers add up. The UltraFlex card says "Saves $15 every visit." If that holds across a year of every-two-weeks visits, 26 of them as counted in our yearly cost of biweekly cleaning guide, the arithmetic is $15 x 26 = $390 a year. That is arithmetic, not an offer. The FlexSave card says "Saves $10 on this booking," so we do not multiply it. Priority is the other direction: the Terms do not describe it any differently from the other windows, so do not assume that paying $15 more removes the delay language in Section 2.5.
If your cleaner is running late
Here is exactly what is promised. Section 2.5 says we will "make every effort to notify you if we anticipate a significant delay." That is the whole commitment on timing. We have searched our Terms, FAQ and help center for a late-arrival credit, discount or refund and found none, so a late cleaner is not, on its own, a reason for a charge to come off your booking.
What you can do is practical. Check your phone for the text that says your cleaner is on the way. If the window has ended and you have heard nothing, use our contact page. If the visit happened but something was missed, that has its own rule: tell us within 48 hours, which is the White Glove Guarantee, explained in our help center.
If they cannot get in, or we cannot come
Two outcomes are written down, and they are opposite. If a cleaner arrives and cannot get in, the FAQ says that is 100% of the booking. Section 2.4 names the cause: the cleaner arrives but cannot gain entry or perform the service for reasons within your control, such as no key, being locked out, or an unprepared or unsafe site. Rescheduling in advance is free, so move the visit instead of leaving a locked door.
The other outcome is on our side. If we cannot provide your service, the FAQ says "we release the hold on your card and you aren't charged."
Snow and storms in Philadelphia
Section 7.3 of our Terms is the one weather rule we publish: "Sometimes, major events outside our reasonable control happen (like severe weather emergencies, natural disasters, pandemics, widespread utility failures, or civil disturbances). Hometress is not liable for delays, inability to perform service, or damages caused by such 'Force Majeure' events. If such an event occurs, we'll communicate with you as soon as possible and attempt to reschedule service where feasible."
In plain words: in a severe weather emergency a visit can be delayed or not happen, we tell you as soon as we can, and we try to move it. We do not publish a snow-day policy beyond that, so we will not promise one.
The City decides much of what a Philadelphia snow day looks like, and its rules affect you, not just us. The City of Philadelphia's winter weather page says the managing director can declare a snow emergency, and that during one, "vehicles parked on snow emergency routes must be moved or they will be ticketed and towed." It adds that power outages and public transit service suspensions are possible.
The same page covers sidewalks. An ordinance requires owners, agents and tenants to clear a path at least 36 inches wide "within 6 (six) hours after the snow has ceased to fall." Where the pavement from the property line to the curb is less than three feet wide, the cleared path may be only 12 inches. The City page puts the fine at $50 to $300 for each violation.
Three things you can do before a storm
- Clear a path to the door. If you own or rent the building, the City requires it, and a cleared path is the first thing anyone arriving on a snowy morning needs.
- Move your car off a snow emergency route if the City has declared one, so it is not ticketed and towed.
- Write parking and entry details in the booking. The booking form has an optional arrival-notes box, "Anything your cleaner should know on arrival?" Use it for where to park, which door to use and any building code. If the plan changes on the day of a storm, use the contact page too.
Our preparation checklist covers the rest of what to do before any visit, snow or not.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose the exact time my cleaner arrives?
You choose a 2-hour window at booking, not a minute. Section 2.5 says we cannot guarantee exact arrival times.
Will I get a credit if my cleaner is late?
We have not published one, so we do not say you will get one. If your cleaner is late and you want to talk it through, use the contact page.
What happens if it snows on my cleaning day?
Severe weather can delay or stop a visit. The Terms say we will tell you as soon as possible and try to reschedule where feasible. They name no separate snow-day rule, so read Section 7.3 and contact us if you are unsure.
