Do House Cleaners Change the Sheets in Philadelphia?

A Standard visit does not change the sheets, and no Standard line names making the bed. Dream Home explicitly lists a sheet change: its checklist has "Change Bedsheets (2 bedrooms included)" and "Laundry Wash & Dry (2 Loads)". On Standard, Deep and Move the sheets are yours, or you strip the bed and send them through the laundry add-on, which is $20 per load.

Cleaning-company guides say the same of most companies. MOP STARS writes that changing sheets "is not generally included as part of a standard recurring residential cleaning service", and Sparkle & Shine says "Making the bed is usually not included unless you specifically request it." Both stop at a small extra charge with no figure.

Your bedroom, tier by tier

Every tier starts from the same ten Standard bedroom lines, and Deep, Move and Dream Home keep them. The table prints each as the booking checklist does, then the lines the higher tiers add that reach a bedroom or the bed. The full lists are in what each tier adds.

Line as listedFirst onWhat it does for the bed
"General Room Straightening"StandardThe checklist does not define it, and it does not name making the bed
"Hardwood / Tile / Vinyl Swept and Mopped"StandardThe floor around the bed
"Declutter of Walking Area"StandardClears the walking path, not the bed
"Clean Bedroom Blinds / Mirrors"StandardNothing for the bed
"Vacuum Under Bedroom Frames"StandardThe floor under the frame, within the 30-pound limit below
"Dust & Clean Countertop / Bedside Table"StandardThe bedside table, not the bedding
"Dust & Clean Upholstered Furniture"StandardUpholstered furniture; no tier names a mattress
"Dust Accessible Vent Covers (up to 9ft)"StandardNothing for the bed
"Clean Window Sills / Ledges"StandardNothing for the bed
"Spot-Check Common Dust Areas"StandardA check of common dust areas, not the bedding
"Empty Closet Floors Vacuumed / Mopped"DeepA closet floor line, not a bed line
"Clean Interior Windows (6 max)", "Clean Interior Doors (6 max)" and "Spot-Clean Baseboards (30-Mins)"MoveHome-wide lines, not bedroom lines; none touches the bed
"Change Bedsheets (2 bedrooms included)"Dream HomeThe only sheet line on any tier
"Laundry Wash & Dry (2 Loads)"Dream HomeTwo loads washed and dried; the checklist does not say which two
"Professional Organization (30-mins)"Dream HomeAn organizing line; what it organizes is not published

Two rows carry the decision. "General Room Straightening" does not name bed-making and the list never defines it, so treat the bed as yours on Standard, Deep and Move. "Change Bedsheets (2 bedrooms included)" is the one sheet line, and it belongs to Dream Home.

What the Dream Home sheet line leaves open

The line says two bedrooms are included. It does not say what happens in a third bedroom, whose sheets go on the bed, whether the cleaner brings a set or uses one you leave out, or where the used set goes. Hometress has not published any of that, so ask before the visit instead of guessing. Our guide to preparing for a visit says the same about linen: "Ask whether to strip the bed or leave fresh linen nearby." The checklist lists the sheet line and the laundry line separately and does not say one feeds the other.

Standard plus the laundry add-on, or Dream Home

On Standard, Deep or Move, the laundry add-on is the other route. Its booking label is "Laundry Wash & Dry (Per Load)", its description says "We sort + fold", and it is $20 per load. It washes, dries and folds a load; nothing published says the cleaner strips the bed or puts the sheets back on. Our suggestion, not a Hometress rule: strip the bed yourself, put the sheets in the load you choose, and write that in your arrival notes. The laundry add-on guide covers whether a load finishes inside a visit.

Dream Home is the other route, and the sheets are one of ten lines it adds on top of Move. It also lists laundry, organizing, pet shed removal and a set of disinfecting lines. If the sheets are the only reason you are looking at Dream Home, you are buying nine other lines with them, which is right if you want those lines. The step-up cost, and where it pays for itself, is in Dream Home or Deep plus add-ons. When you know the level, you can start a booking for your Philadelphia home.

How often sheets need changing

Both health sources we checked put the interval at about a week. Cleveland Clinic says "Medical experts advise washing your sheets at least once a week, says dermatologist Sean McGregor, DO" and "Swap out your sheets for clean ones every one to two weeks." The Sleep Foundation says "Most people should wash their sheets once per week", and that if you do not sleep on the mattress every day "you may be able to stretch this to once every two weeks or so." For pets in the bed it recommends "a wash every 3-4 days".

A visit that changes the sheets changes them once. Dream Home does it in two bedrooms on the day; the washes between visits are yours on every tier.

Setting up the bed for a sheet change

Sparkle & Shine, a Los Angeles company, suggests that "Stripping the bed before your cleaner arrives and setting out fresh linens neatly on top can help." That is one company’s advice for its own cleaners, not a Hometress rule. For your own visit, the safer step is to ask what your booking expects before you strip anything.

Under the bed and the heavy frame

Standard lists "Vacuum Under Bedroom Frames". The Terms of Service, section 4.1, say "Cleaners cannot move furniture or objects weighing more than 30 pounds" and "If heavy items block areas needing cleaning, please move them before the appointment." The checklist gives no weight for a bed and does not say whether the line covers a storage bed, so a heavy frame is a question to settle before the visit. The rest of the exclusions are in what house cleaners won’t do.

Frequently asked questions

Do house cleaners make the bed in Philadelphia?

No Hometress line says so. Standard lists "General Room Straightening", which the checklist does not define, and no tier names making the bed. If the bed matters to you, ask before the visit and do not count on the straightening line.

Will the cleaner move my bed?

The Terms say "Cleaners cannot move furniture or objects weighing more than 30 pounds." The checklist does not say what a bed weighs. If your frame is heavy, the Terms ask you to move what blocks the area before the appointment, so raise it in advance.

How often should I change my sheets?

Cleveland Clinic and the Sleep Foundation both put the wash at about once a week. Cleveland Clinic allows one to two weeks for swapping in clean sheets, and the Sleep Foundation allows about two weeks for a bed you do not sleep in every day. A single visit changes the sheets once, so the washes between visits are yours on every tier.
