House Cleaning with Pets in Philadelphia: A Booking Guide

October 15, 20265 min read

Before booking house cleaning with pets in Philadelphia, decide where your pet will stay, describe the hair or mess you want addressed, and check the actual cleaning checklist. A dog or cat does not automatically mean you need the deepest service. The right choice depends on your home's condition and the work you need done.

For a rowhome with a front door opening onto the sidewalk, an apartment with a shared hallway, or a home where the cat hides upstairs, the arrival plan deserves as much thought as the floors. Here is how to prepare without cleaning the whole house first.

Choose the cleaning for the condition of your home

Start with the tasks, rather than a promise of a completely hair-free home. Hometress's Standard checklist includes Open Carpet Areas Vacuumed, Floors Swept / Mopped / Vacuumed in the kitchen, and Dust & Clean Upholstered Furniture in the bedroom. Read those as specific checklist tasks, not a guarantee of carpet shampooing or upholstery extraction.

The Dream Home checklist separately lists Pet Shed Removal. That wording does not appear in Standard or Deep. If embedded hair is your main concern, ask what the task covers before choosing a tier. You can compare the full room-by-room cleaning checklists rather than paying for a larger package on assumption alone.

Your main concernWhat to clarify before booking
Loose hair on accessible floorsWhich rooms and floor areas need routine vacuuming or mopping?
Hair worked into fabricDoes the selected service cover that material and the level of shed removal needed?
A stain or persistent odorIs treatment available, and does it require a separate specialist?

Make a pet plan before the door opens

Choose a familiar place your pet can comfortably stay away from the work. That could be an agreed closed room with its essentials, or time outside the home with someone responsible for it. Plan around your own animal's needs; a cleaner's arrival is not the moment to try an unfamiliar arrangement.

If a room will stay closed, agree whether it is excluded from that visit. Tell the cleaner which door must remain shut. Keep responsibility for feeding, walking, handling and moving the animal with you or your chosen caregiver unless you have explicitly arranged otherwise.

A small apartment needs this decision early. If the bedroom is the only place your cat can stay, decide whether leaving that room out still gives you the cleaning you want. If it does not, consider arranging care outside the home for the visit. Do not build the plan around someone opening the room halfway through unless everyone has agreed who will move the animal, where it will go and when the space can be cleaned.

In a Philadelphia rowhome, think through the route from the stoop to the work area before supplies come inside. In an apartment, include the shared entrance and elevator in that plan. Secure the pet before admitting anyone, rather than trying to manage a leash, an open door and arriving equipment together.

Write an arrival note that someone can act on

A useful note names the animal, its location and the boundary. For example: “One indoor cat will stay in the upstairs back bedroom. Please leave that door closed; we are excluding that room today. I will be home.” This is a sample arrangement to confirm, not a service instruction that becomes agreed simply because you typed it.

Hometress's booking form includes a Pet in the home flag and optional arrival notes. Use them to record the details. If a request affects products, access or the work itself, contact Hometress to confirm the arrangement before the visit. A booking note records a request; it is not confirmation of a special accommodation.

If you plan to leave, also work through the guide to being home and arranging access. A door code alone does not explain where an indoor cat is staying.

Clear access without doing the cleaner's work

Pick up toys, loose leads, food bowls and washable mats from the areas you want cleaned. Put them somewhere your pet can still use what it needs. Clear the floor around a pet bed if that area matters to you, and point out furniture where hair is particularly noticeable.

You do not need to vacuum in advance to make the home presentable. The useful preparation is access. Do not pull heavy furniture apart or assume the visit includes moving it. Ask about any awkward space before counting it as part of the clean.

Separate everyday dust and hair from a pet accident. Describe urine, waste, damaged flooring or an old stain when asking about scope; do not assume a standard house-cleaning visit includes treatment or that stronger cleaning will restore a damaged finish.

Discuss products before the visit

Hometress's published FAQ describes plant-based, low-fragrance products as the default. Low-fragrance does not mean fragrance-free, and that description is not a promise that every product suits every animal. For more about what arrives with the visit, see our cleaning supplies guide.

Ask about the actual products if your household has a specific restriction. The ASPCA's cleaning-product guidance advises following label directions and consulting the manufacturer or your veterinarian about product selection. Keep animals away from cleaning solutions and equipment, and follow the product's directions before letting them return to treated areas.

If you are checking labels, the EPA explains its Safer Choice program, including a separate fragrance-free label. That is a way to evaluate a named product, not evidence that Hometress's entire kit carries that certification. Confirm any requested substitution in advance.

Use the first visit to choose a workable rhythm

Judge a cleaning schedule against what happens between visits. Notice where hair collects, which rooms get muddy paw prints, and what you are comfortable maintaining yourself. If floors need attention before the rest of the home, a brief vacuuming routine between professional visits may be more useful than buying a deeper clean every time.

Before rebooking, compare the checklist with the result and name any areas you want to discuss. Choose your home details and service in Philadelphia online booking for the displayed quote; confirm any specialist work separately. A recurring arrangement should fit both your budget and the amount of upkeep you want to do.

Questions to settle before booking

Can my dog stay home during the cleaning?

Ask before the visit and agree where the dog will stay and who will manage it. Do not assume that a friendly dog can follow the cleaner between rooms or that pet care is included.

Should I book Deep just because I have a cat?

Choose by condition and checklist. Deep adds work beyond Standard, but the specifically named Pet Shed Removal task is on Dream Home. Describe the hair problem before choosing a service around it.

Will a house clean remove pet odors?

Ask about the source and proposed treatment. Routine surface cleaning is a different request from treating a soaked rug or damaged floor. Agree on the work before expecting an odor-removal result.
